Idol

I want to buy you a god.

A brand-new deity to sustain your wasted adoration

And audacious worship of this fraud:

An icon who should dispense no penalty nor damnation

For your conflicted behavior toward any human.

I will purchase for you a manufactured incarnation

Like nothing resembling that ghost packaged inside testament, tanakh, veda, or koran:

An idol dreamily dressed in diamonds, velvet, garnets, and carnations.

This personal divinity shall love you for worshipping yourself first.

It will be helplessly devoted to succumbing to you and your wildest temptations.

I will give you my bleeding, unquenchable thirst.

An epiphany that will burn into your fleshy salvation.

A presence that is neither ephemeral, imaginary, nor flawed.

I have sold unto you everything that I own for your very elation

So that you may now covet and sleep with a tangible, responsible god.
